This course introduces students to key concepts and debates influencing health and social care. It develops knowledge for a career in health and social care by exploring life quality, effective caring, communication, person-centred provision and the impact of behaviours on health.

BSc (Hons) Health and Social Care with Foundation Year provides a structured route into degree-level study in health and social care. The foundation element helps students develop academic confidence and core subject knowledge before moving into more advanced study. Students may study areas such as Academic Writing Skills for Success 1, Academic Writing Skills for Success 2, Care, Compassion and Communication in Health and Social Care, Health and Social Care 1 - An Introduction, Health and Wellbeing Across Communities, and in Health and Social Care Environments and Professional Foundations of Health and Social Care, alongside wider themes in care values, safeguarding, communication, health policy, wellbeing, public health, research skills and professional practice. Full-time; GBS may offer weekday/evening classes subject to availability.
